Services for Members

The Association offers a slate of benefits to our members that include cooperative marketing programs and other negotiated vendor discount agreements. Some of the active benefit programs are listed below, or see up-to-date information in Member Resources.

COOPERATIVE ADVERTISING PROGRAM

The Association continues its Cooperative Advertising Program; offering discounted advertising rates in 15 publications to AUPresses members. In May, October, and November 2021, member presses participated in cooperative advertisements that appeared in The Nation. In addition to The Nation fall and spring discount offers, AUPresses members participated in cooperative advertisements in The American ScholarHarper’s Magazine, Issues in Science and Technology, and The New York Times Book Review. Other publications offering discounted advertising via the cooperative program are: Bay Nature, Bitch Media, BOMB, Bookshop, New Left Review, Parabola, The Progressive, Science News Magazine, SST Media Group, and Tricycle.

COOPERATIVE INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITS

The Association offers exhibiting opportunities, often in partnership with international book trade fairs. While the international exhibits program had paused as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, AUPresses is pleased to be returning to these international book fairs in 2022.

FILUNI
AUPresses has offered discounted exhibit space for members at the Feria International del Libro Universitario (FILUNI) since its inaugural edition in 2017. While the fair did not take place in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, FILUNI will return in 2022—taking place August 30-September 4 in Mexico City—and AUPresses plans to return with collective exhibit space for members.

FILUNI is the first international university press book fair hosted in Latin America, drawing university press publishers from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, USA, Spain, Peru, and Mexico. The fair is organized by the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) through its press

London Book Fair
The Association was back and in-person with a collective booth at the 2022 London Book Fair, which was held April 5-7 at Olympia London. After a two year pause due to the pandemic, AUPresses continued its long-time partnership with Reed Exhibitions to offer discounted exhibit space within an AUPresses branded pavilion. Member presses Aarhus University Press and UCL Press joined AUPresses in its collective booth.

Reed offered the exhibiting packages, planned the space, and handled reservations and billing for booth participants. AUPresses provided a staff member for organizational support during the fair.

CLIPPING SERVICE

After many years of providing this service, AUPresses discontinued its discounted Clipping Service Program in summer 2021. The program had enabled participating presses to track their publicity efforts at a reduced cost via BurrellesLuce (the US leader in media monitoring).
